Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for English Language Arts


Draft Revisions


The 2009 draft revisions to Wisconsin's Model Academic Standards for English Language Arts (WMAS) are built on the foundation established by the 1998 WMAS and provide further guidance relative to PK-12 student learning in Wisconsin. The revised WMAS are organized by grade band, and within each grade band, by a series of learning continua intended to provide more specificity at a developmentally appropriate level.

The 2009 WMAS are intended to identify the body of knowledge, skills, and processes that all students should know to participate meaningfully as members of 21st century post secondary communities, in careers, and as engaged life-long learners.
