Federal Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program in Wisconsin

Program Description:

In Wisconsin, the federal Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is a part of the Wisconsin All State Scholars Program. The Wisconsin All State Scholars Program is co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction; the Wisconsin Foundation for Education Association (WFEA), a part of the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators; the Wisconsin Education Association Council; and the Wisconsin State Journal. What this means is that students named as Wisconsin All State Scholars are offered the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. Public and private high school principals nominate students based on enrollment and use application materials sent to them the last week in December by WFEA. Applications are due the third week in February to the WFEA office. Criteria include overall grade point average and ACT or SAT converted. In addition, all nominations are sorted by the congressional district of the nominating high school. Wisconsin All State Scholars/Byrd recipients are those with the highest points in each congressional district until allocated scholarships are awarded. Inasmuch as this is a federal program, the number of scholarships varies according to the federal budget.

Who is Eligible to Apply:

Interested students should speak with the high school principal about the possibility of being nominated.

Application Due Date:

The third week of February.
