The Department of Public Instruction does not currently have a state assessment in the arts but Wisconsin is participating in the development of a variety of assessments in the arts including:
- The National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) in the arts has been administered and scored for eighth-grade students. The NAEP 1997 Arts Report Card is available from the National Center for Educational Statistics at www.ed.gov/pubs/edpubs.html or http://nces.ed.gov/naep.
- State Collaborative on Assessment and Student Standards (SCASS) is a national initiative of 16 states to develop assessments in the arts.
