Services for Students with Speech and Language DisabilitiesEligibilityThe specific eligibility criteria for speech and language under state law is found at PI 11.36 (5) of the Wisconsin Administrative Code. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has developed a technical assistance guide to assist IEP teams in evaluating children to determine if they have speech and language impairment and need for special education due to the impairment.

OtherResults of Survey of S/L Pathologists The Preschool Options Project provides training to assist local school districts in developing a range of options in Least Restrictive Environments (LRE) for young children with disabilities. The site is a great resource for therapists working with children ages 3 to 5. Options for Determining Case Loads in Special Education The Wisconsin Assistive Technology Initiative (WATI) helps all school districts develop or improve their assistive technology services. WATI also works with Birth to 3 programs through a grant from the Wisconsin Birth to 3 Program.
